Parties That Cook teams up with Epicurean Concierge, Lisa Rogovin, to bring you a one-of-a-kind culinary adventure. Set in San Francisco's famous Mission District where the traditional and often lusty Latino and South American flavors are a part of a changing community of various backgrounds and cultures.
Bring your appetite and a bottle of water and meet your guides at Mr. Pollo in the Mission for the first half of the event - an exciting tasting tour. Experience authentic tacos from El Farolito, award-winning ice cream from Humphry Slocombe, and delicious freshly baked mini cupcakes from Mission Minis. You'll also stop into Mexican market, La Palma Foods, where you'll learn about a few of the ingredients you'll later learn to cook with. TOUR STOPS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
The moving tour ends in the kitchen at La Cocina, a business incubator that cultivates low-income food entrepreneurs as they formalize and grow their businesses. There, you'll be greeted by Parties That Cook's professional chefs for an exciting hands-on cooking class featuring the exotic flavors of the Mission. Enjoy a lively introductory cooking demo featuring tips such as the fastest way to dice an onion without a tear. While listening to upbeat music, the group will break into smaller teams and learn to prepare 2 recipes from the day's Latin-inspired small plates menu. When the cooking is over, you'll savor the 'fruits' of your labor hot from the oven!
