Dinner and a movie doesn't always cut it. Sometimes you want something a little more hands-on, something to give that night out a little kick in the pants, which is when Parties that Cook comes in very handy.This Friday, March 20, it's hosting Sumptuous Small-Plates Couples Cooking Class, a two-hour affair tailor-made for drinking, eating, and, of course, flirting. Partners will get down and dirty in the kitchen, learning cooking techniques alongside trained chefs as you all whip up an impressive tapas menu that is almost guaranteed to be more satisfying than a pricey restaurant dinner. You know what they say: It always tastes better when you cook it yourself.
Guests are asked to bring a bottle of wine to share with the group. Oh, and no cooking experience is necessary. Menu highlights include tartines of Roquefort with shallot-cherry confit, coconut-crusted shrimp with tamarind-ginger dipping sauce, and mini Meyer lemon cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. (Vegetarian options are available if you request them in advance.) It happens Friday, March 20, at Dacor Kitchen in South San Francisco (871 Dubuque at Linden) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and costs $170 per couple. Sign up online.
