San Francisco, CA November 16, 2012 - Just in time for the corporate holiday party season, Parties That Cook today announced the launch of their “Cooking with Kindness” team building program. The Cooking with Kindness initiative is designed to bring corporate groups into the kitchen of a local family shelter to cook for, serve, and dine alongside its residents, adding a charitable component to holiday parties. Giving back to the local community is an emerging trend as companies of all sizes embrace corporate social responsibility and factor “doing good” into their corporate agendas.
“We have heard from many of our clients that they want to incorporate a charitable element into their company holiday party, while still rewarding their teams with a group event,” said Bibby Gignilliat, CEO and Founder of Parties That Cook. “Our Cooking with Kindness program is designed to do just that. We enable companies to engage their staff in a celebratory holiday party that benefits the community at the same time.”
From toy drives and community restoration, charity backpack assembly and creative fundraising activities, to hands-on cooking classes, team building companies around the world are incorporating charitable components to their services offered. Corporate Teams, based in Denver, has partnered with the Women’s Bean Project to expand their philanthropic team building programs, while The Leaders Institute has added a charity challenge to a number of their team building events, including mini-golf.
The Cooking with Kindness program was created after Parties That Cook hosted a charitable cooking event for client AppliedMicro last December. AppliedMicro had requested a team building holiday dinner and toy drive to benefit members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula. More than 200 company employees donated their time and effort to prepare the meals and serve them to over 100 club members and their families. Just recently Parties That Cook hosted their first official Cooking with Kindness event when a meal was prepared through a team building exercise and then served to residents at Hamilton Family Center in San Francisco. Parties That Cook is working with a variety of shelters including Bishop Swing Community House and Compass House in San Francisco, Lincoln Park Community Shelter in Chicago, and Transition Projects in Portland.
"I'm so very grateful that we have the opportunity to partner with Parties That Cook. The Cooking with Kindness program will provide our formerly homeless clients with a special meal and dining experience that most would not have the means to experience without Parties That Cook,” said Travis Hamilton, Support Services Manager of Bishop Swing Community House. “The experience is particularly heartwarming for our residents during the holidays."
